NY JAPAN Weekly News Paper. 23 Oct 2008 issue

NY JAPAN Weekly News Paper. 23 Oct 2008

Big event. Halloween is almost here. This year, the 31st is on a Friday so many people plan on going to a party or special dinner. However, some people may not want to wear unusual clothing to work, or they may have no idea what they should wear for this occasion. Some people may think that buying a costume that they will wear only on Halloween is a waste of money. If you think like that, I would like to recommend this spider-web jewelry collection by Ayaka Nishi.

Ayaka Nishi is a New York-based jewelry designer. (This picture is of a Spider web earring which costs $230.)This earring is inspired by spider webs and branches. The black twig part is made of oxidized silver and Thai gold. This jewelry would go well with a black one-piece dress for Halloween. In this jewelry, you can find sharpness and an organic feeling. This is one-of-a-kind, unique jewelry.

Photo shoot for Ego Moda magazine

This Saturday I took part in a photo shoot for Ego Mode magazine, a leading fashion magazine in the Spanish-speaking world. Lending my latest line of hand-made jewelry to the photographer and clothing designer, I helped make the photo shoot for Ego Mode magazine's holiday edition (to be published in December) a success. The photo shoot lasted nine hours. The director put together a lot of interesting and creative scenes for the photographer to shoot. Overall, I was really pleased with the results of our collaboration and look forward to working with these artists on other projects in the future.

Group exhibition at ISE gallery

Over the summer I participated in a group exhibition at the Ise gallery in SOHO, where one of my newest creations, a faux crocodile-skin necklace, was featured prominently.
At the close of the exhibition, a party was held at the gallery to celebrate the contributions of me and my fellow artists and to provide us with an opportunity to discuss our works and their significance.

My favorite book

The book “By Nature’s Design" by Pat Murphy is one of my favorites. It uncovers the rules of beauty by examining patterns common in the natural world. The book is both interesting and instructive whether one is an artist or just an admirer of things beautiful.

Spider webs and branches earing

This is an image I created by combining a photograph taken by a friend
with that of a spider web. The earring featured in this composition was inspired by
tree branches and spider webs.
