Jewelry and Flower Exhibition

I'm glad to inform about jewelry and flower exhibition on June 19th and 20th in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn.
I'm going to collaborate with my mother who is floral designer.

Jewelry meets Flowers
- A WAY WITH FLOWERS AND NATURE -

Jewelry and Flower Arrangement
EXHIBITION AND TRUNK SHOW

On June 19th and 20th Ayaka Nishi, jeweler, and Mariko Nishi, Ikebana artist and teacher, will exhibit at Brooklyn Workshop Gallery in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn.

Mariko Nishi, an acknowledged artist from the School of Sensho-Ikenobo works in both modern and traditional arranging forms. Ikebana is a style originally inherited from early forms of Buddhist altar offerings circa 500 A.D., and continues to be developed to the present day by artists devoted to perfecting the joining of living forms (flowers) with sculptural principles. Mariko is known in Japan not only for her exquisite work but also for her teaching. During this special event she offers a workshop alongside her exhibit to the NY community.

Ayaka Nishi grew up in the magical world of her mother’s art. She too is fully versed in the details of nature and the principles of space. Not only flowers, but also spider webs, fish scales, honeycombs, wings, and bones inspire Ayaka’s meticulous work. Following upon the netsuke traditions for which Japan is famous, Ayaka is a superb crafts artist in her precise and elegant forms. No detail is too small for her attention. Her work is made from materials from sterling to copper and incorporates pearls and semi-precious stones. Her already popular Spine Bracelet will be available for public viewing and order.

Ayaka’s work has been featured in many magazines throughout Japan and the United States. Her pieces will be highlighted in ELLE August issue 2010.

BULLET PROOF
My friend, Tal (Photographer) and Steven (Videographer, VJ) shoot a
short spy film last month.
They used some of my jewelry for the film.

They shoot everything in their neighborhood in Green Point.
The tuxedo which the model is wearing is bullet proof!

He is a still life photographer.

So far, he has been shooting my jewelery.

In his photos,it seems my jewelry made it's presence felt more.
It is like a being put on make up.

The bone line stands out beautifully in these pictures.

Spine Bracelet.

I found strange long coyote bone at a store like this few month ago.

I thought this is a good shape! so I made simple bracelet.

I started to wear 2 or 3 bracelets.

One day I thought I want to wear a longer bracelet! and I decided to make a spine bracelet.

I combined snake spine and coyote bones. It was almost like surgery. I was making a new creatures.

This is the spine bracelet.

Size is adjustable.
Made from sterling silver.
This piece makes me happy.

Currently available at NOT JUST A LABEL site. Soon to be available on my online shop page.

Coral Necklace and lariet

Just last week,I've finally done a new coral necklace and a lariet.
The coral necklace is a pretty big piece.Under the coral, some oxidized chain is hanging with pearls and crystals.
I design this necklace when I was an F.I.T student and finally I could make the actual piece.

I love the ocean and sea organisms, so coral and pearls are one of my favorite motifs.I imagine a mermaid, or the ruler of and aquatic kingdom wearing this necklace.
I made this necklace as a showpiece but it will be good for a party or special event.

Also, I made a coral lariet for someone who likes simplicity.

Silver coral and a crystal are connected at the end of oxidized chain. This lariet is worn making a knot loosely without using a clasp. You can adjust length. This is good for daily use.

I'm working on a coral ring, earrings and a blacelet for summer.
I'll put my new creations on my shop page when my coral collection is complete.
Till then!

Wedding Necklace

On this Jan, I got e-mail from my old friend, Taka.He asked me to make a wedding necklace for his sister.Since the wedding was hold on Feb, I rushed making jewelry.
His request was ' somehow, gorgeous! '.
I made my one of important works, honey comb necklace white version and I set stones on honeycomb part.I send it with a nice blue box to Japan.

After his sister's wedding, he send me e-mail again and he said his sister and he was really happy with my necklace.I was really happy to hear that.

I met this friend, Taka when I was 20 years old in Perth, Australia. He was my neighborhood and one of best friends. We used to go to fishing everyday.Since it was my first experience to live in foreign country, I shared many exciting sometime difficult experience with my firnd.

After we went back to Japan, since we lived far each other so it was difficult to meet. However ; still I believe he is one of important friends in my life.

Now he works in Iran as an environment specialist and I'm in NY as a Jewelry Designer. It is really difficult to see each other ; however, I was really glad that my friend remembered me and order wedding necklace for his sister, also I was really happy to take a part of his sister's important moment.I was honored and privileged to be a jewelry designer.

During making Jewelry, I remember many great memory in Perth and I missed beautiful scenery.
I thought, someday I really want to visit Perth again.

Coral Necklace

A stylist send me a photo from phototshoot.
They used my coral necklace.
The coral necklace looks nice with a model.
Each coral has different size so it takes time to set corals.
This necklace would be nice for summer.
I'm making other coral necklace and earring and ring for a coral collection.
